Governor Greg Abbott appointed Wise to serve as Judge of the newly created district court, which is the fourth district court in Brazos County. The 472nd District Court has primary responsibility for civil cases, including family and juvenile cases.
Judge Wise brings with him years of experience in the same kind of cases that will come before the 472nd District Court. He is an experienced trial lawyer, handling complex civil cases as the lead attorney for over a decade before taking the bench. Judge Wise has tried complex civil litigation cases all over central Texas, including state courts and federal courts, as well as handling appeals to the 10th Court of Appeals.
Judge Wise was trusted by the Bryan City Council and Mayor Andrew Nelson when they appointed him in 2021 as the Municipal Court Judge for the City of Bryan. The appointment came after a lengthy interview and selection process against other qualified and exceptional candidates.

Judge Wise interviewed with the Governor's Judicial Committee who exhaustively looked into Judge Wise's credentials and experience ensuring the people of Brazos County would be served by an experienced, qualified and competent judge of the newly created district court.
Judge Wise has faithfully served the community as both the Municipal Judge of the City of Bryan and now as the current District Judge for the 472nd District Court. He has proven himself to be the kind of judge we need in the Brazos Valley. At the City of Bryan, Judge Wise worked to restore the faith in the judiciary by treating everyone who came before the court with dignity and the respect that each of us deserves.
Judge Wise embodies the call in Micah 6:8: "Act Justly, Love Mercy, and to walk humbly with our God." He is committed to justice, adhering to the rule of law first, looking for ways to extend mercy, always remembering that he is a man under authority.
