Jerrell is married to Emily Foster Wise of College Station. They have been married since 2002 and have five children. Jerrell and Emily have loved raising their family in Brazos County. Emily, Texas A&M Class of '02, serves as a teacher and administrator at Oakwell Academy. Their family enjoys hiking, backpacking and all of the everyday adventures of raising children.
Jerrell and Emily are extremely proud of their five children! Their kids keep them busy attending church events, dance, volleyball, basketball, chess club, art, and student council meetings. They are blessed to have lots of family nearby to share in the blessing of raising our next generation! Their oldest son is at Texas A&M University studying Engineering, and their oldest daughter will be headed there in the fall.
Judge Wise was sworn in as the Presiding Judge of the City of Bryan Municipal Court on November 1, 2021. Judge Wise was appointed by the City Council to serve the community by upholding justice in its court. Judge Wise has presided over jury trials and bench trials for criminal charges and civil hearings regarding matters that have been filed in the municipal court.
Judge Wise is an experienced civil trial attorney who has tried complex civil cases in State District Courts and Federal District Courts across Texas. His experience as the lead attorney in civil trials is invaluable for a presiding judge of a civil district court. Judge Wise served as a Senior Litigation attorney for Daniel Stark, P.C. in Bryan, Texas, where he handled a broad range of civil matters, representing local Brazos County residents.
Jerrell graduated from the University of Houston Law Center in 2011 where he served as an editor of the Houston Journal of International Law. In law school, Jerrell took part in the Criminal Practice Clinic where he was assigned to a misdemeanor court with the Harris County District Attorney's Office. Wise tried his first jury trial while still a law student as part of this clinic. Jerrell would go on to serve Collin County District Attorney's Office as a post-graduate fellow following graduation. There he tried misdemeanor criminal cases under direct supervision of the Chief of the Misdemeanor Division.
Jerrell served as a Police Officer for the City of Mesquite, Texas and as a Reserve Deputy for Harris County (while attending law school). Jerrell gained valuable perspective working as a patrol officer, responding to traffic collisions, crimes in progress, and various 911 calls. Jerrell believes that police officers are the front line protectors of civil rights, as well as defenders of freedom.
Judge Wise is proud of his service and strives to bring his experience as a law enforcement officer into his court where he continues to protect individual rights and defend freedom.
Jerrell, Texas A&M Class of '99, was a member of Squadron 17 in the Corps of Cadets where he served as a Cadet Major over the wing chaplain program. He served in leadership roles in Brothers Under Christ and was the president of Sigma Iota Epsilon, Honors Management Fraternity. He graduated with a BBA in Management and Marketing.
Jerrell grew up in Richardson, Texas where he was raised by his parents who fostered 68 children over the years. He was deeply shaped by the experiences of service and love to those in need. He was an Eagle Scout and involved in his church youth group. His family and faith laid a strong foundation of integrity and service.
Jerrell's personal experiences of the importance of protecting the rights of all in our community, including the young, is one reason Judge Wise is honored to serve as Judge of the 472nd Court, which handles Civil cases, including juvenile and family law.
